Join me at Alexandra Palace for some knitty fun.

Are you going to The Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace in October?  Me too.  What a happy coincidence, how do you fancy sitting down and having some knitty fun with me for an hour?

Tempted?  You know you will want to sit down, you know that there won’t be a free chair anywhere.

But seriously (as Katie would say),  I am teaching a couple of workshops on Thursday 9th October and Friday 10th October.

Thursday I am teaching  Knit an I-Cord Flower Brooch, this class is a great introduction to I-Cord knitting and my Beaded Bracelet class for those who have not knit an I-Cord before.

Later on Thursday I am teaching, How to make a beaded bracelet, knit with beads and a crochet hook.   This class is an introduction to applying beads to your knitting with a crochet hook as you go.

Friday I am teaching Knit an I-Cord Flower Brooch and later in the day for those ready for something a little more challenging, knitting with double pointed needles (Take the Fear out of Double Pointed Needles and Knit a Napkin ring).

Magic Knitted Cupcake Pattern, now available for free

To celebrate the new series of The Great British Bake Off, the lovely ladies at Let’s Knit Magazine are offering my Magic Cupcake pattern as a free download.

There is nothing we knitters love more than to relax with a WIP and a tasty treat.  Why not swap the sugar-soaked version for a calorie-free knitted cupcake? Cherry Blossom is a fab way of making your everyday notions look cute and tidy. Hidden beneath the knitted surface is a retractable tape measure, and while the frosted pink icing can be used as a handy pin cushion, the pastel cupcake case can also be removed and used to hold stitch markers and other notions.

Pringle Tube to Knitted Desk Tidy, why not?

I am always looking for new ways to yarn bomb my work space.  I had seen lots of faux knitted home wares in the shops but nothing was quite right.  So I made my own, with the help of some empty Pringle tins!  What makes these extremely practical is that you can pop the covers off and wash them.  (Let’s just say I am a little accident prone, enough said)

These cute storage tins are a great way to practice your skills and maybe try a new one!  The checked jar is created by slipping stitches, this means you are only ever working with one colour per row, awesome!

Happy Days – Now free to download

Typical – I post about the sun turning up, and I jinx the weather! We’ve been educating Katie in the joys of ‘Only Fools and Horses’, and I’ve been made to look like a right ‘Uncle Albert’, albeit a (much younger!) non-seafaring version.

So hopefully, some lovely bunting can brighten up your day indoors?  GOOD NEWS UPDATE – This pattern is now available to download for free from the lovely ladies at Let’s Knit Magazine.  Download your copy today and don’t forget to post pictures on my Facebook page, it makes me very happy :)

Happy Days

Since each flag only requires a small amount of yarn, this could be a great stash buster. It’s also a great project to try out intarsia colour-work for the first time. Varying stripes, plain and garter stitch adds some interesting texture that’s great for practicing your technique.
