Snuggly Eskimo Buddy, super quick knit!

This cute little chap is knitted in a variety of textures and will make the perfect snuggle buddy for some little (or not so little person).

Joe is worked in King Cole Cuddles Chunky, King Cole Merino Blend DK and James C Brett Faux Fur.  Knitted in the round, there is very little sewing up to do, perfect!

This cute little chap is worked mostly in one piece to cut down on sewing up.  The colour work is knitted using slip stitches so no complicated stranded knitting to contend with.  If you are new to this type of colour work, fear not it is really simple and instructions are included in the pattern.

Say I love you mostest, with my Free Love Heart Knitting Pattern

When I was asked by Sarah at Let’s Knit to design a hanging heart for the magazine I jumped at the chance.  I am as some of you will know a hopeless romantic.  I wanted to make something a little bit special for Doug to say thank you for everything he does to support me in this crazy job I have.

For those of you have not yet reached for the sick bowl,  here is the pattern.

‘I Love You Mostest’, Knitted Heart Pattern

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You will need:

• 25g of red DK weight yarn
• 10g of white DK weight yarn
• 10g of pink DK weight yarn
• 4mm needles
• Two 4mm DPN’s (for I-cord)
• Toy stuffing
• 40cm garden wire
• Black felt

 

Finished size:

12cm tall x 13 wide

 

Heart – make two pieces

Using red yarn and 4mm needles, cast on one st

Row 1: knit in to front, back and front [three sts]

Row 2: purl

Row 3: k1, m1, knit to last st, m1, k1 [five sts]

Row 4: purl

Repeat rows 3 & 4 until you have 27 sts ending after a WS row

Top shaping:

Row 1: knit

Row 2: purl

Row 3: knit

Row 4: p13 turn

Work on these sts only as follows:

Next row: sl 1, k1, psso, knit to last three sts, k2tog, k1. [11 sts]

Next row: purl

Rep last two rows until five sts rem, ending after a WS row

Cast off

With WS facing, rejoin red yarn to rem 14 sts, work on these sts only as follows:

Next row: cast off one st pwise, purl to end [13 sts]

Next row: k1, sl 1, k1, psso, knit to last three sts, k2tog, k1. [11 sts]

Next row: purl

Rep last two rows until five sts rem, ending after a WS row

Cast off

 

To make up:

With WS facing, sew edges of two heart pieces together, stuffing as you go. Make a hanging loop by plaiting together strands of yarn, or working a crochet chain.

Embroider initials using straight stitches and white yarn.

Using 4mm DPN’s and pink yarn make two i-cords, one 5cm long and one 3cm long. Stitch 5cm i-cord to bottom left of heart and 3cm i-cord to top right of heart. Using photo as a guide. Cut one triangle and two ‘V’ shapes out of black felt and stitch in place on i-cords to make an arrow. Double over garden wire and push through centre of bottom, i-cord through heart and centre of top i-cord. Trim wire as necessary.

 

Christmas Glamour Knits gets some balls

Christmas Glamour Knits are my best selling pattern by far,  all year round I sell these little Christmas knits across the globe.  I have been a busy bee adding a couple of new patterns to this collection, so you can add to yours.

New for this year are two pattern leaflets…

The aptly titled Christmas Glamour Bauble pattern (I know where did I come up with that name, right?)

 

This is knitted in the round on double pointed needles, with a small stranded colour work section (which is worked from a chart).  If you are new to stranded colour work this is the project for you to dip your toe into the stranded knitting pool so to speak (because there is only a small section of colour work).  The pattern includes as always full written instructions and video links to tutorials to get you started with any new techniques or offer a refresher should you need one.

 

Finally, a couple of small balls (too easy?)  Christmas Glamour Mini Baubles

This pair are tiny, measuring a mere 11cm in circumference, you will be able to make these in no time at all.  The beaded bauble uses a crochet hook to apply the beads.  There is both written and video instructions for this technique.  I can not recommend learning this skill enough, no more threading hundreds of beads onto your yarn!

This cute Penguin hat can be customised to suit your taste in just three steps. The pattern includes a choice of earflap and mini top hat styles, simply follow the steps to make your hat, your way! Six variations of this hat are included in the pattern.

The hat is worked flat and includes an intarsia chart for the face.

xsmall (41cm) small (46cm) medium (51cm)

The yarn requirements are:

One 50g ball of DK weight year in the following colours; black, white, red and gold.  The sample is knitted using

To celebrate the new series of The Great British Bake Off, the lovely ladies at Let’s Knit Magazine are offering my Magic Cupcake pattern as a free download.

Pringle Tube to Knitted Desk Tidy, why not?

I am always looking for new ways to yarn bomb my work space.  I had seen lots of faux knitted home wares in the shops but nothing was quite right.  So I made my own, with the help of some empty Pringle tins!  What makes these extremely practical is that you can pop the covers off and wash them.  (Let’s just say I am a little accident prone, enough said)

These cute storage tins are a great way to practice your skills and maybe try a new one!  The checked jar is created by slipping stitches, this means you are only ever working with one colour per row, awesome!

Plain kitchen clock to knitted rustic wall art – Easy!

This post comes with a warning, once you have knitted completed this project nothing in your home will be safe!  Knitting i-cord is simple and before you know it you will be yarn bombing mirrors, frames and more.

This plain kitchen clock is given a make-over using household string and a glue gun.

Knitting Mystery – Number One

Why is it that I can knit away for what feels like forever and the fabric doesn’t seem to grow. You measure frequently trying to work out if you miss measured last time, but you are disappointed to discover it has only grown a pain-staking centimetre in the last decade, (ok I exaggerate, but it feeeeeeeels like a decade).

 

 

Then as if by magic the piece is 5cm too long!

How does this happen?

Knitted Wedding Fever

The sun is starting to shine, the flowers are blossoming, it can mean only one thing – hayfever!  Only kidding, wedding season is upon us.

If, like me, you are allergic to fresh flowers, why not knit yourself a buttonhole?  In this months issue of Let’s Knit Magazine I have a couple of wedding themed projects.  Firstly, Chimes; a set of pretty rose buttonholes.

 

Of course these don’t have to be buttonholes, flowers look lovely anywhere.

Next I designed a cute mouse couple who are celebrating their special day.  This fun pair would make a great gift for a bride and groom.  Mrs To Be has a really simple yet effective veil and paper flower bouquet.  Mr To Be has a dashing tuxedo and gentlemanly whiskers.  This handsome couple are very quick to make, why not add some personal touches for the happy couple to be?

The happy couple even made it onto the cover!
